Lake Buena Vista Golf Course (Everything You Need To Know)

Events for the PGA Tour, LPGA Tour, and USGA have all taken place at Disney’s Lake Buena Vista Golf Course. The 18-hole course was designed by Joe Lee and most notably has raised bunkered greens that emphasize good approach shots. It is recognized by Audubon International as a Cooperative Wildlife Sanctuary and is given an amazing 4 stars by Golf Digest. The hard 7th hole will put your abilities to the test with its difficult island green. Continue to read and we will be sharing some more details about you with the Lake Buena Vista Golf Course

History of Lake Buena Vista Golf Course

Consider it in this manner. In the 1980s, the Los Angeles Lakers’ “Showtime” teams, who won five championships, ranked Byron Scott as their fourth-best starter. The lesson of the tale? Being fourth best is sometimes still very impressive.

A deeper feeling of appreciation for a 1972-built course that welcomes players of all skill levels may be gained by concentrating on what Lake Buena Vista G.C. offers rather than what it lacks. True, unlike Disney’s Magnolia Course and Palm Course, Lake Buena Vista no longer hosts the PGA Tour. However, it is the only golf course owned by Disney to have hosted both the PGA Tour and LPGA Tour.

The PGA Tour Fall Classic (together with the Magnolia) and the LPGA’s HealthSouth Tournament were both held at this Joe Lee creation between 1980 and 1993 and 1995 to 1997. With a clean 61, Bob Tway continues to hold the course record. Karrie Webb won the 1996 HealthSouth here before her Hall-of-Fame career took off.

The 6,819-yard Lake Buena Vista G.C., the shortest of the four Disney courses, sometimes resembles a combination of the expansive Magnolia and the cramped Palm. The only golf course at a Disney resort with out-of-bounds stakes is Lake Buena Vista. Not to worry. Players may avoid those awful stakes thanks to the GPS on the carts.

What to expect when golfing in here?

Some target golf is necessary on the opening nine, which runs through the Old Key West Resort. The course seems more like a resort course as it opens out on the back nine. Some golfers dislike the noise and activity that comes with having a Disney resort so nearby. The presence of spontaneous galleries excite certain people. People watching from porches and balconies of resorts or from riverboats that go around the course’s network of canals sometimes applaud or clap after successful shots.

It’s not simple to give them something to celebrate. Beginning with the opening hole, a 514-yard par 5, where second shots that hook left get rinsed, there are water hazards on eleven of the holes. The sixth hole, a short 354-yard par-4, is surrounded by a canal inlet. The island green on the par-3 seventh hole, which is 157 yards long, is large enough not to be very scary.

The course then enters a pleasant pace. There isn’t anything really flashy or tricked out, simply a regular diet of traditional Florida golf. Disney Vacation Club members make up a large portion of the golfers that play at Lake Buena Vista G.C. Due to this connection, Lake Buena Vista takes on the appearance of a “country club,” where the same players return year after year. The return play is evidence of the value of an engaging, difficult layout that is often disregarded.

What else should you know about the Lake Buena Vista golf course?

Three 18-hole courses and one 9-hole walking course are available at Walt Disney World Resort. The Palm, Magnolia, and Oak Trail are found in the Shades of Green Resort close to the Magic Kingdom, while Lake Buena Vista Golf Course is situated in the Disney Springs Resort region. In fact, these golf courses are so near the theme park that players can hear both the Walt Disney World Railroad and the Ferry Boat whistles.

These linkages have a rich magical past as well. The Magnolia and Palm Courses served as the venue for the Walt Disney World Golf Classic on the PGA Tour from 1971 until 2012, which included notable winners including Jack Nicklaus and Tiger Woods. The PGA Tour also visited Lake Buena Vista 17 times over its 42-year existence. Although the top players in the world played on these courses, they are not unduly difficult and are quite playable for golfers of all skill levels. We wanted to emphasize that these courses are hard yet enjoyable. They are not as fancy as other courses, and the golfer can see everything well. There aren’t any “gotcha” hazards or secret bunkers to annoy gamers.

The Saratoga Springs Resort, the Old Key West Resort, and the Tree House Villas are among the Disney Resort properties that Lake Buena Vista passes through. There are also several tree-lined pits that are empty of any structures. But the Villas never seemed to detract from the course or give us the impression that they were encroaching (except for maybe the back tees of number 7). In fact, the Tree House Villas on the 17th hole appear to be the structures most at risk of being struck since they are beautifully hidden into the trees and difficult to spot.

The raised bunkered greens at Lake Buena Vista, which are designated by Audubon International as a Cooperative Wildlife Sanctuary and given a rating of 4 stars by Golf Digest, emphasize precise approach shots. This is true because it might be difficult to see the borders of certain greens from the fairway due to irregular sight lines. However, much like the other courses, everything is clearly visible to visitors, and there are no peculiar design features that can irritate players.

Andrew played from the blue tees, which are 6,745 yards out, to maintain consistency. Two more sets of tees are located between the red tees, which extend the distance to 5,177 yards. Despite being the shortest of the three championship courses, we didn’t feel that this was the case since it was the most difficult (Andrew scored lowest at Lake Buena Vista). Here, the fairways are wide, and the water doesn’t provide as much of a challenge as it does on the other courses. Even the stunning island green of the seventh par-3 offered some space for error. Additionally, we would say that this course seemed a little more isolated than the other property and was also quite calm and pleasant.

Green Carts

GPS technology has been added to golf course carts to provide realistic pictures of hazards, yardages, hole layouts, pin positions, and more to aid with game planning. Your greens fee already includes the use of a golf cart; there is no extra charge for the cart. The front windshields, small cooler, sand bucket to fill divots, and rear pull-down club covers are all included with the carts, which are designed to be shared by two guests.

On our three championship courses, golfers must utilize our golf carts in order to maintain a fun pace of play. We suggest Disney’s Oak Trail Golf Course, a 9-hole walking course, for those who would rather walk the full course.

What to wear for golfing?

Disney’s Lake Buena Vista Golf Course has a non-metal spike facility to give the greatest putting surfaces. Tennis shoes are also allowed for golfers, but they should use shoes with metal spike replacements. Denim shorts or jeans are not authorized; proper golf clothing is also needed.

Men may put on collared polo shirts. Shirts with faux turtlenecks or turtlenecks and Bermuda-length shorts or slacks would be ideal. Women may put on collared polo shirts. Appropriating shirts or blouses (with or without collars should be worn with shorts of the Bermuda length, skirts, or slacks.

Cancellations and Reservations

Even if you still have some time before you want to play, make a tee time reservation online or by calling the Golf Master Starter at (407) WDW-GOLF or (407) 939-4653. Although making reservations is strongly advised, we often strive to accommodate walk-up golfers. Golfers who show up alone or in a pair will have the greatest chance of playing.

To allow for check-in, cart assignment, and a good warm-up, please plan to arrive at least 30 minutes before your scheduled tee time. We will make every effort to accommodate you if you are unavoidably delayed and arrive late.

Players Are Paired

We do endeavor to arrange participants into foursomes whenever possible so that all Guests get the chance to play. This encourages a constant tempo of play. We advise the 9-hole strolling Disney’s Oak Trail Golf Course for less experienced players who are concerned about being partnered up. In addition, even though we may host any size group or party of golfers, we only allow a maximum of 4 guests per tee time. With the understanding that each of these may be partnered to fill up foursomes for each tee time, a party of five would be booked as a threesome and a twosome.

Non-Players

Riders who are not players are welcome with a little charge. This price guarantees against the uncommon player who brings their own gallery and pays for the expense of supplying a golf cart. Please be aware that non-players or spectators are always allowed to walk alongside the group, however we cannot always guarantee that a spectator will be able to ride between January and May owing to the strong demand for our courses.

Clubhouse and pro shop

Lake Buena Vista, Disney Located within Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa are the Pro Shop and Clubhouse. One of two pro shops that cater to golfers around the Walt Disney World Resort is Disney’s Lake Buena Vista. It offers a wide variety of golf accessories and top-notch rentals. Bring mementos like towels, hats, branded shirts, and clubs home.

Both right-handed and left-handed varieties of rental clubs, as well as junior clubs, are offered. There are other options for renting golf clubs, and none of these items has to be booked in advance.

In order to maintain a steady tempo of play on our courses, we require that each Guest bring his or her own bag and clubs. For visitors who reduce the number of clubs they bring and leave their large bags at home for travel, we do provide free loaner golf bags.

Golf club storage

Your clubs may be stored by the Walt Disney World Resort Golf Courses, who can then move them from one Disney golf course to another at the start of each day.

Clubhouse

Golfers seeking to clean up may do so in the locker facilities and showers at Disney’s Lake Buena Vista Clubhouse. These lockers are free to use, and the pro shop sells keys for them.

Driving School and Instruction

The Disney Lake Buena Vista Golf Course has a driving range and putting green for you to hone your techniques. For an extra cost, PGA teachers provide private sessions. Adults and juniors (guests 5 to 17 years old) may plan professional classes, which last 45 minutes (Guests 18 years of age and up).

Call (407) WDW-GOLF or (407) 939-4653 for further details. Calls from visitors under the age of 18 need parental or adult guardian consent.

Personal and Dining Coolers

You have the opportunity to get a quick snack at one of our new, Disney character-themed mobile refreshment carts while you play through each round of the course. As you play, be sure to find all three of them to take advantage of this fantastic new picture opportunity. Our refreshment carts have you covered whether you’re looking for a nice, refreshing drink—alcoholic or not—or some much-needed food for a back nine surge that will save your scorecard. You may enjoy a variety of beverages, including coffee, beer (domestic and import), soft drinks, sports drinks, and cocktails. All day long, sandwiches are available for both lunch and breakfast.

Select Walt Disney World Resort hotels provide its guests free cab rides. At a few Resort hotels’ valet desks or bell services, as well as at the golf courses’ pro shops or from any member of the golf operations staff, you may ask for a ride. There are no parking fees at the golf course itself or while passing through the Auto Plaza on the route to the golf courses for Golf Day Guests who choose to organize their own transportation.
